- Had a democratic tradition
- In 1968 Alexander Dubcek became secretary
- Gained freedom of press assembly worship and right to strike "Socialism with a human face"
- This move threatened to spread to neighboring Romania
- Troops from several satellite states moved in
- Dubcek arrested and relieved by Husak who followed the Russian line
Summary: Czechslovakia applied for aid after WWII when America was offering to countries affected, doing this was suppose to gain their vote for democracy. Even though Czechslovakia applied for the aid, they did not receive it, even though they agreed with becoming democtratic. Alexander Dubcek became secretary and brought in freedom of press, the right to strike and assembly worship which paralleled with democratic aspects. He brought in "Socialism with a human face".
