If the US had gone against isolating themselves from other affairs would there be such a large population as there is now?

After the first world war, The US developed a sense of isolationism as they no longer wished to participate in foreign affairs. Although they wished not to take part in these affairs, they were still involved through intervening with treaties like Kellog-Briand Pact.
